Safety Comes First
At Centralia R-VI School District, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. We are committed to being prepared, transparent, and responsive in all situations — from everyday incidents to large-scale emergencies.
Centralia R-VI follows the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM) developed by the “I Love U Guys” Foundation, a nationally recognized school safety organization used in schools across the country. These programs give students, staff, families, and first responders a shared language and clear actions for any emergency.
The Five Actions of the SRP
- Hold — Keep hallways clear; students remain in current location
- Secure — Threat outside the building; secure all exterior doors, normal operations continue inside
- Lockdown — Threat inside the building; lock doors, lights off, silence until cleared
- Evacuate — Move students safely to a designated location away from the building
- Shelter — Take protective action for environmental hazards such as severe weather
